Born to push you around
Better just stay down
You pull away
He hits the flesh
You hit the ground
Mouth so full of lies
Tend to black your eyes
Just keep them closed
Just keep praying
Just keep waiting...

Waiting for the one
The day that never comes
When you stand up and feel the warmth
But the sunshine never comes, no
No the sunshine never comes...

Pushed you cross that line
Just stay down this time
Hide in yourself
Crawl in yourself
You'll have your time
God I'll make them pay
Take it back one day
I'll end this day
Splatter colour on this grey...

*chorus*

Love is a four letter word
And never spoken here
Love is a four letter word
Here in this prison
I suffer this no longer
I'm putting and end to
This I swear
This I swear
The sun will shine
This I swear!
This I swear!
This...I...swear!

*in case you haven't already figured it out, this is 'The Day That Never Comes', from the new Metallica album 'Death Magnetic' and it is generall awesome. Probably my fav song on the entire album, especially the lyrics in that last verse. If you like heavy metal, get that album now!*

Well that's all from me.

Geez, I really need a reminder about this place. :p

So anyway, what's been going on in the world of James lately?

Well quite recently I went on holiday to Ireland with my parents. We drove down to Holyhead in Wales, then got the ferry over to Dublin, and finally drove to Galway, in the South-West. Beautiful country overall, loads of rolling green fields, mist-draped mountains and some glorious views of the sunset from the seaside we were near to. The initial hotel we were in was a bit cramped though, and the other services were rubbish basically, so we upgraded the third day we were there, to a much nicer hotel with decent services and wi-fi in the rooms. :D Some days we went for a drive and saw some of the sights, such as the Cliffs of Moher and Kinvera Castle, and others we went for a wander around town.

But the night we were due to come back, our afternoon ferry got cancelled due to bad weather, so we had to get the slow boat at 9 PM instead. So we didn't get home until about 5 in the morning, absolutely knackered and smelling a bit worse for where. But in all it was worth it, a great trip away.

Pics are here: http://s132.photobucket.com/albums/q24/James69_album/Ireland%20Trip/?start=0

So in other news, I'm deciding what to do with myself next. Right now it's a toss up between getting a job, and going back to uni to do a Masters Degree. And frankly, I'm sick of two things:

1) The fact I'm being turned down for a lot of jobs just cause I don't have enough experience apparantly...but I need a job to get experience, so how the hell does that work well?
2) My dad seems to think I'm doing nothing about the latter, even when I show him everything I've found on the net that looks interesting etc. But whatever, he can say what the hell he likes, it's not my fault if these people drag their heels over getting back to me.

But that's enough from me for now. Take care y'all!

So, let's keep this short and sweet if possible.

-I bought tickets to go see The Subways in October, which honestly can't come soon enough for my liking. This is the band who, when I went to see them last time, back in March 2007, nearly were responsible for my death, as the gig was being held in a tiny club called The Square (which was demolished only 4 weeks afterwards), and the mosh pit and massive stage invasion was insane. So hopefully next time I won't be put in harm's way, but you never know. Keep an eye out for my obituary! :p

-I graduated officialy this Monday. The ceremony itself was decent enough, but to be honest I got a bit bored after a while, but still it was a great feeling of accomplishment after those 3 hard years. And it was nice to see the people on my course as well and to say goodbye to them. Sounded like they all had their futures planned out, so I wish them all the best. But also, the robes we had to wear were a bit uncomfortable to be honest: the main robe just kinda hung loose, and the hood kept slipping off as well. So those of you planning to go to uni in the future, you have been warned. :D

-I saw the film 'No Country for Old Men' the other day, and I have to say it was a decent film, even if the ending was quite confusing. But overall, a thumbs up from me. And Javiar Bardam was rather brilliant as Anton Chirguh (or however you spell it), who was a rather bad-ass mofo overall, knocking out locks with a pressurised oxygen tank and blowing people away with a cattle gun. :p

So that's all for now. Take care everyone. xxx

So my final results at last came today.

And I passed on everything with marks of at least 50% for each module. :D So now I have a 2nd Class Bachlor of Arts Degree in History and Geography, and I'm aware that most museum curator jobs look for at least a 2.2 or 2.1 for likely candidates. So the family's going out for a big meal tonight. :D

But this really is an end of an era for me: I've been in education for about 15/16 years, and it's frightening considering that's about 75% of my life. So now real life starts from here, and it's time to get my act together. So, wish me luck everyone...

Oh dear. Forgot about this journal. :p

Anyhoo, I graduate today next week, but I'm yet to recieve my final results from uni to know if I'm even eligable to attend yet. Ah, stressful. *runs about*

In other news, I bought the new album by The Subways today, 'All or Nothing'. If you've never heard of The Subways, they're a British Indie/rock band who've been around for years, but only released their first major album, 'Young for Eternity', 3 years ago, and they were my last massive musical obsession, I recall. This is the band I travelled to the other end of the country to see last time, and the band that was the soundtrack to my life for about a year and a half. But anyways, this album almost never happened due to frontman Billy Lunn suffering from polyps on his vocal chords, but luckily it was all sorted in time for this new release. And the album is awesome, it has to be said.

But anyways, how are the rest of you lovely people? :)

So earlier today I went to see the new Indiana Jones film, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and to be blunt, it was pretty awesome. :D

Harrison Ford might be 60-odd years old but he still knows how to kick ass and unearth some ancient civilizations in the progress. :p

There's a lot to like about the film: such as the many throwbacks to the original trilogy (look out for the brief glimpse of the Ark of the Covenant near the beginning), some breathtaking action sequences (such as the incident involving the Fire Ant nest) and that good old THWACK sound effect when a fist connects with someone's cheekbone.  And of course, a few jokes about Indy's age:

"You know, for an old man you sure know how to fight."
"Thanks."
"I mean, how old are you? 80?"

xD

And there's the odd ridiculous situation as well: look at how Indy survies a god damned nuclear explosion (clue: it involves a refridgerator).

Well anyways, that's all for now. See you all later. xxx

Hmmm...

I'm sat here listening to some Nine Inch Nails right now, and despite the fact I was rather sceptical of their music before, it's safe to say that I was totally wrong. I only have the album 'With Teeth' at the moment, but from what I've heard before, this is some of the most well-crafted and beautiful music I've heard in a long time. So that's one more band added to my ever-growing list of 'bands I should've gotten into earlier'. :p

And in other news, there's a rumour going about that the lovely Hayley Williams might be dating Chad Gilbert of new Found Glory...of course it's just a rumour at the moment, but if it turns out to be true, there's gonna be a lot of disappointment and jealously from the males. And I'll probably be crying myself to sleep at night as well for weeks to come as well. :p

Well that's all for now folks. Haha.

This country's whole infrastructure is going down the pan, as my dad always says. And he's not wrong.

In the last few weeks the price of petrol per litre has gone up hugely ever since strikes were announced. Back in March unleaded petrol was about £1.03 per litre, but today the price is now £1.10 per litre, and diesel is at least £1.20 per litre now. And on the news it was recently announced that BP and Shell have made at least £5 billion worth this year so far. Pfft.

And in the news recently you hear these stories of how local councils are cracking down on bin policy. We have seperate bins for general waste, recycable goods and green waste now, but I've heard you can get fined if you fill up your bin so much that it can't be closed properly and or if you put your bin out too early you can get fined. The hell? I'm sorry, but stuff like this is just ridiculous, almost as ridiculous as how Pete Doherty keeps getting let out of jail early. (no offence to any Pete fans :p)

But in a more positive slant, I got last week's issue of Kerrang! with a nice big Paramore feature in it, and it was a plesant read as well. I actually e-mailed Kerrang! complimenting them on the article and requesting some Paramore posters for a future issue, so fingers crossed for that. :p

That's all from me for now...take care people! xxx

...oh baby I never feel so down...

:P

Yeah, I just quoted a Strokes song, but it seems appropiate for last night's shenannigans (did I spell that correctly? Haha). Our parnts have gone away to Edinburgh for the weekend and so me and my bro had some friends over last night for a good old fashioned BBQ. We used a load of these small disposable BBQ's for cooking the food, and by the half way point there was so much smoke I was just waiting for the fire engine to come screaming down the street...and the front room now stinks of smoke so we have to do something about that before the parents come home tonight...joy. But stuff we had included beefburgers, chicken and sasuage skewers and pork ribs...that we waited until they were rather crispy before we took them off the BBQ of course :p

But anyways, Will is still in bed so it looks like time to go get him up, or at least try to. Talk to you all later. xxx

Wow. 2 updates within a week...I'm getting good. :p Anyhoo, I've been bored lately, so here I am.

-I finished my history dissertation this week, and I'm handing it in to uni on the friday. Somehow, having the final copy in front of me, all bound in a professional-looking spiral spine and acetate covers makes me feel like I accomplished something worthwhile, and also surprised at how easy it was doing this work. I mean, at first I thought it';d be ball-breaking stuff, so to speak, but luckily my supervisor made it a hell of a lot more manageable, so I must thank her some time.
-The ParamoreFans boards have been down for nearly a week now, cause of the fact someone actually hacked into it and messed it up pretty badly. Well it must have been bad if it's taking so long to fix. So I've had to resort to going elsewhere to fill my boredom time. :p
-In another Paramore related issue, I read this week's issue of NME and found a little interview with Hayley in it...where she explains how they ahd to take a break cause they were at each other's throats a lot, which seems undertsandable really. But man, they did a good job of making it look like that wasn't the case.
-I've become to appreciate more how relaxing guitar playing can be, just sitting there working through chord arpeggios and working out my own progressions. I've been working on a progression for one of my own songs I wrote, 'Dreamer', and maybe you'll see that song in this journal some time in the future. :)

Well that's all from me. Hope you're all keeping well. :) xxx

:willynilly:

Well...I kinda forgot about this place, so sorry those of you who've been waiting for an update with baited breath. *tumbleweed blows past* :p

So, let's summarise what's been happenin in my world of late:

-Easter holidays end this week, and in that time I've been working on my final project, my dissertation, on vagrancy in early modern england. Thrilling I think you'll agree...but anyway it's nearly finished, but something came up so it looks like I'll have to work my bum off to get that ironed out in good time.
-Also, since it's nearly the end of my tenure at university life, we graduate in July, so now I have to work out where to go afterwards. I've decided not to carry on a Masters Degree at another university when I'm done here, so it looks like I need to think about what I could do for a job now... :(
-And I keep having these Paramore-related dreams as well, basically they involve me and a certain someone else...well, you can work that part out yourself. ;D

So that's all from little old me for now. Love you all, and speak to ya around.

*sighs* Where to begin?

Well, despite the fact I'm 21 years old, an adult now, some people around me still think it's allright to treat me like a troublesome 10 year old...earlier on my dad mentioned how I shouldn't watch some programme that was on late, in case 'it puddles your mind'. What a load...especially since I've been watching 15 and 18 rated movies and programmes long before I had reached those ages, and I turnedf out fine...for the most part. :p

In other news, been working on my dissertation along with other assignments, and the former's been getting a lot of attention, since it will be the first thing that any potential future employer will look at, and such forth, and it's due in on the 25th April, but luckily I'm about halfway done with it, so it could be worse. :p The main problem is the fact that it's hard trying to get a hold of some good sources to use for my research...tis doing my head in. :/

The last part of this post concerns the mighty Paramore, them of catchy pop-punk music and brightly-coloured jeans. :p They were supposed to be on tour of Europe come the other week, but unexpectedly they cancelled the rest of the tour and went back home, citing 'personal issues at home', but then a post on their LJ suggested that their were a few inter-band issues that required their attention. So in short, it seems as though Paramore are going through a bit of a stressful time. And since they are a band who've had such a profound impact on a lot of the people I know from PF.com, this gives me some cause for concern. Also, since they played such a blinding gig on the 14th at Newcastle, I feel as though I owe them something back. :p

Sure, it's understandable for people to be pissed at their gig getting cancelled (again) and having to waste money on travel etc., but if the band they were supposed to see are having problems, that kinda over-rides any other feelings you have towards the situation. So let's all wish that they start to feel better in the near future. :)

That's all chaps, see you later. xxx

So...very eventful night in all. :p

Pre-gig

So I got to the venue for just before 5:15, only to find out that we had to meet up for 6:30 now, and there was no forewarning whatsoever. Was a little knarked, but I got to hang out and talk to a few other people I'd met the past night, including one of the roadies, an 18 year old from LA, who told us various stories such as when he was sleeping on Paramore's tour bus but Hayley kept kicking him when he was trying to get to sleep. ;D We stood around back for a bit and heard Paramore sound-checking (they were playing Hallelujah), then a short while later when we were round front again a load of people came running around from the back screaming their heads off. Apparently they'd just caught Paramore leaving for the signing at HMV. "I'VE JUST SEEN HAYLEY WILLIAMS!" shrieked one girl. Haha. :p

So, 6:30 came along and we all queued up outside the doors. A security guy appeared and asked if we had our wristbands yet. We said that's why we were queuing up to begin with, and he vanished back inside. At 6:45, Will finally appeared with our wristbands and they were handed out eventually. By the time we were finally allowed inside, it was 6:55, even though we had to meet up at 6:30. Ridiculous...

But anyways, we finally started queuing up to meet the band, in this backstage corridor down a couple of sets of stairs...very awkward indeed. We only had enough time to get one item signed and get a picture each, and also according to the rules we weren't allowed to hug them. Why? Who knows...maybe they thought we were going to grope them or something? ;D

So it was getting close to my turn, and out of curiosity I stuck my head around the corner and could see Josh sitting there behind one of those small circular tables. Then a few more minutes and it was finally my turn. So taking a deep breath, I went up and said hello, and Hayley said:

"Foo Fighters! Yay!"

*I was wearing my Foo Fighters shirt at the time* So I explained how my Paramore shirt was actually in the wash at the time and had to wear my Foos shirt instead. "That's OK, that shirt's much better," Hayley replied. :D So then I gave them my ticket to be signed, and also gave them the two letters I wanted to give them: one from myself, because I knew I wouldn't have that much time to talk to them, and another from my friend Katie in New Jersey. They said thanks, then we got a picture taken and parted ways.

All of that for about a minute with Paramore. Haha. But Will promised that next time they'd make sure Artist Arena arranged something more substantial.

The Gig

So after getting a drink and a poster from the merch stand, the first support, Kids in Glass Houses, came on. They were allright I suppose, very loud and energetic but I was more concerned with finding the toilets at the time. :p After them came New Found Glory, and they certaintly got the crowd fired up, and even if I didn't know any of their stuff. I couldn't help but join in with the bouncing and being generally crazy as well. NFG departed at about 8:45, and then everyone crammed in for Paramore, and I found myself wedged in near the bar by the left hand side of the stage. Just after 9, the lights dimmed and a banshee howl filled the venue. Then a large screen at the back of the stage started showing footage of public riots in grainy film vision, just as the band took to the stage and went straight into 'For a Pessimist...'

It was incredible: easily one of the best gigs I've been to in ages, the performances were flawless, even if Hayley's vocals were drowned out somewhat by the instruments. The whole crowd were getting into it, bouncing about and screaming along to nearly every word. The band themselves were on top form as well: Hayley dashing about like a madwoman and partaking in some serious head-banging. She was also wearing her Thundercats shirt, so bonus points for her. :p Jeremy was pretty much doing the same, at one point doing some serious jump-spin-kicking stuff  during Pressure. And of course, there was the famous flip too. :D Josh was awesome as well, going wild during his solos of the heavy parts, and so I got quite a few good pics of him. As for Zac, I couldn't really see him very well from where I was since Josh was in the way.

I can't remember the entire set list off heart, but I know they played songs including Let the Flames Begin, Born For This (immense), When It Rains (really awesome slow song live), Emergency (the whole place went bapshit to that one), Pressure (flip!), Never Let This Go, That's What You Get (during this one Hayley just walked over to Taylor and patted him on the cheek, was hilarious. =D) and a cover of JEW's 'Sweetness.

Of course Hayley stopped to talk to us a few times, saying that we were the best crowd they'd had on this tour, and also reading out a sign on the upper balcony that read 'MARRY US HAYLEY.' "But I think there's laws against marrying more than one person," she replied. She also got us all to raise our arms and snap our fingers along to Fences, another highlight of the night. The screens came into effect again during Crushcrushcrush, playing footage from the video that wasn't in the official release.

They played My Heart to close the main set, and it was a brilliant performance, even if I'm not a massive fan of that song, with only Hayley on the keyboards for most of the song, the rest of the band joining in near the end. Then when it came to the end part when Josh came in with the screaming, we all kind of got carried away there and I was sure my tonsils would come flying out my mouth by the end of it all. :p

Then for the encore, they played Decoy to start with, which was probably one of my fav parts of the show, as Decoy is one of my fav songs, and it was good to see that quite a few people in the crowd were singing along as well. Then when that song was done Hayley fetched the video camera and started to film us, so we could 'See how sexy we all looked on Valentine's Day,' the footage being shown on the screen at the back of the stage. And then they finally ended on Misery Business, and the whole place went even more nuts than before, us still being videoed on the back screen as the song progressed, then it became 'Josh cam' when it was time for him to play his solo for us. And then that was it. The whole band took a bow and disappered into the night, and then we all piled towards the exit doors. :p

So in conclusion, awesome gig, and it was nice meeting them beforehand, even if the organization of the entire thing beggered belief.

Pics are here.

Thanks for reading, even if I couldn't spend more time on writing it. :p

Yes, I'm somewhat bored, so much that I used a Paramore lyric as the title. Anyway, been a while since I updated this, so I'll just run through a little of what I've been up to of late.

-First, I started back at uni last week, and it was a bit uneventful to say the least, aside from me having to change my modules around at least 3 times, and then being stuck outside a lecture room with the rest of the class because someone didn't plan out the rest of the timetable correctly. But yeah, not as many assignments as last semester, but having my dissertation to work on evens that out somewhat. :/

-I'm starting to lose a bit of faith in my old friends. 3 days in a row they had to cancel plans they had with me, on the second day I didn't hear back from them until it was way too late, even if it wouldn't kill them to send me a text or whatever to let me know in good time...geez.

-Also been working on my fanfictions the last few weeks as well, one for Resident Evil, another for Silent Hill, and one involving some real people for a change, but whether it'll see the light or day or not in the end's another matter.

Anyways, that's all from me for now. Take care everyone, and leave a nice comment to make my day. :)

Well?

.....

In case you didn't already know, she is the elad singer with Tennesse pop-punk outfit Paramore, who am I going to see on 12th Febuary, and I also have a Meet and Greet for before the gig, so chances are I'll be reduced to a stuttering wreck when trying to talk to her, but hey, who wouldn't in front of a cute redhead? :p

But anyway, I'm going past the point.

The point being, I am just slightly obsessed with the lvoely Hayley, for many reasons. She is very cute, yes, with her green eyes, perfect smile, flawless skin and petite figure, but I'm not that shallow to like someone purely for their looks. She is remarkably open with her fans, referring to a number of her own personal experiences in the band's LJ entries, as 'it's better out than in'. A lot of her song-writing comes from personal experiences as well, and it was this fact that finally spurred me into writing down the lyrics and songs I had come up with, rather than supressing the emotions and letting it go to waste. So I'm going to thank her for that when we do meet in Febuary...if only I can keep my composure long enough. ;D

So thanks for reading this....I only did it in a state of boredom and also because of my obsessive tendencies, which I'm sure a lot of you can identify with.

So later taters! xxx

...and I feel like shit. :p But, more on that later...

New Year's Eve consisted of a party across town, the same house we've been to these last few years as it happens...there only seemed to be about half as many people there as there was last year, but that didn't dampen the party spirit. Then came the moment of truth...Jack Daniels Jenga, which I lost, meaning I had to drink a 'punishment pint'. This consisted of:

1 shot of smirnoff
1 shot of whisky
1 shot of cider
1 shot of something else
topped up with smirnoff ice in a pint glass.

Needless to say, it tasted foul and the room was spinning shortly afterwards. Cue me failing to sit down on the couch properly and tripping up going up the stairs repeatedly. xD

Anyhow, 5 glasses of water later and I was fine....for a bit. Then I woke up the next morning and I had a terrible cough and a cold, but whether this was because of the pint or something else I'll never know. That illness still lingers today, so good vibes would be much appreciated.

As for the near future, I have exams next week, back to university full time a few weeks afterwards, then Paramore on the 12th febuary. Then the month after, Queens of the Stone Age on 3rd March, re-shecduled from 29th November.

Ta-ta for now! xxx
